Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Rovi is a social app for meeting people, sharing posts and stories, chatting, joining live voice rooms and playing games together. This policy explains what we collect when you use it, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

1Who we are

Rovi (“Rovi”, “we”, “us”) operates the Rovi mobile app and the pages it links to. This policy applies to everyone who uses the app, including guests who have not registered.

To be completed[Operator’s legal name, registered address and, where required, data-protection representative — to be completed by the owner.]

2Information you give us

  • Account details: the email address or phone number you sign up with or — if you use Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple — the email address and name that provider shares with us. A guest account has none of these.
  • Profile details: your name, gender, date of birth (from which we work out your age and star sign), nationality, country, bio, interests, job, height, relationship status and profile photo. Everything beyond what is needed to sign in is optional.
  • Content you create: posts, reels, events, polls, comments, reactions, stories, streaks, messages (text, photos, videos and voice notes), messages in voice-room chats, and the gifts you send.
  • Reports and support requests: what you tell us when you report a person or a piece of content, or contact support.
  • Purchases: the membership or item you bought, its price and currency, and the transaction identifiers from the App Store, Google Play or our card processor, Paymob. We never receive your full card number; if you choose to save a card for renewals, Paymob gives us a token and the last four digits only.

3Information collected automatically

  • Device information: the device type, operating system, app version and language, and the push-notification token that lets us send you notifications.
  • Activity: when you were last active, who you follow, what you like, view or react to, and which rooms and games you join — used to run features such as your feed, suggestions and rankings.
  • Network information: your IP address, which we use to estimate your country when you sign up and to protect the service from abuse.

Rovi does not include third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

4Your location

Rovi reads your location only if you choose a feature that needs it — the map, or the distance filter in Match — and your device asks for your permission first. We store the approximate position your device reports, and you can switch location off or remove it at any time in the app.

Other people never see your exact location. Match shows a distance rounded to whole kilometres, and the map shows a point placed somewhere inside an area of roughly one square kilometre around you, which moves once a day. You stay hidden on the map until you turn it on.

5How we use your information

  • To create and run your account and keep you signed in securely.
  • To show your profile and content to other people, deliver your messages, and run voice rooms, games, stories and streaks.
  • To suggest people, posts and rooms, and to order your feed and your Match cards.
  • To process purchases and memberships, and keep a record of your coin and diamond balances.
  • To send you notifications, which you control from your device settings.
  • To keep Rovi safe: to investigate reports, enforce our Terms, prevent fraud, spam and abuse, and protect our users.
  • To answer your support requests and to comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information.

6What other people can see

Your name, photo, age, gender, bio and the other profile details you fill in are visible to other Rovi users, as are the posts, reels, stories and comments you share. In chats, the person you are talking to can see when you are online and whether you have read their message. In voice rooms, everyone present sees your name, photo and level. You can block anyone, which hides the two of you from each other everywhere in the app.

7Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that help us run Rovi, and with each only what it needs:

  • Hosting and storage providers, including Amazon Web Services, where photos and videos are stored.
  • Google Firebase, for Sign in with Google and Sign in with Apple, and for delivering push notifications.
  • Apple and Google, when you sign in with them or buy through the App Store or Google Play.
  • Paymob, our card-payment processor.
  • LiveKit, which carries the audio in voice rooms.
  • Email, SMS and WhatsApp delivery providers, which send you verification codes.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger or sale of the business — in which case this policy continues to apply.

8How long we keep information

  • While your account is open, we keep your information for as long as you use Rovi.
  • Stories leave the rail after 24 hours and stay in your own archive; streaks are view-once; voice-room chat messages expire after 24 hours.
  • When you delete your account, you are signed out everywhere, your profile is removed from the app and anonymised straight away, and what you posted disappears from every feed.
  • Thirty days after you delete your account, your photos, videos, posts, stories, comments and the media you sent in chats are permanently deleted. We keep them for those thirty days only so that we can investigate reports of abuse.
  • Records of purchases and of coin and diamond balances are kept for as long as the law requires, linked only to an internal account number — not to your name or contact details.
  • Text messages you sent stay in the conversation of the person you sent them to, shown as coming from a deleted account.

9Your choices and rights

  • Edit or remove your profile details at any time in the app.
  • Turn location, map visibility and Match discovery on or off, and control notifications from your device settings.
  • Block or report anyone, and hide posts and stories you do not want to see.
  • Delete your account in the app from Settings → Delete account, or by writing to us if you no longer have the app.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, using the contact details below.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict some processing, and to complain to your data-protection authority.

10Children

Rovi is only for people aged 18 and over. We ask for your date of birth and do not let anyone younger complete sign-up. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it. If you believe a child is using Rovi, please tell us using the contact details below.

11Security

Information travels to and from Rovi over encrypted connections, photos and videos are served through short-lived links, and access to our systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please never share your verification codes with anyone.

12International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours. When they do, we rely on their contractual commitments to protect it.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Rovi changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated; if a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app.
